Smart MasterKey Now Works with Inner Range Inception
Our integration with Inner Range Inception is live. Building operators and installers can now add Smart MasterKey mobile access and cloud management to compatible Inception installations, using the controllers and wiring already in place. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet credentials are also available where compatible readers are installed.
Inception is Inner Range’s integrated access control and intruder alarm system, with software built into the controller and managed through a web browser. It suits small and medium-sized commercial sites that need door access and alarm management without a dedicated server. Smart MasterKey adds mobile credentials, tenant administration and a shared portal for managing access across multiple sites.
What changes for building operators

Employees, tenants and visitors can use their phones to open doors through the Smart MasterKey app, or Apple Wallet and Google Wallet where supported. This reduces the work involved in ordering, issuing and replacing physical cards and fobs. Existing cards can remain in use alongside mobile access.
From the Smart MasterKey portal, administrators can add users, assign access roles and revoke permissions when someone leaves. In a shared building, tenants can manage access for their own staff while the building operator retains oversight. Bulk Import lets administrators bring in users from an existing spreadsheet when setting up a site or onboarding a larger organisation.
For operators with several Inception installations, the integration brings access administration into one portal. A person who needs access to more than one site can be managed centrally, reducing the need to repeat user administration at each location.
What stays the same

Inception continues to control the doors and run the alarm system. Door settings and alarm configuration remain in Inception, while Smart MasterKey handles users, access permissions and mobile credentials through the integration.
The existing controller and wiring stay in place. Reader compatibility determines which mobile credential options are available, so an installer can check the site before recommending the setup. For a building operator, this provides a way to introduce mobile access while retaining the investment in the installed system.
Why this matters for installers
For installers who already supply and service Inception, the integration offers an additional service to discuss with existing customers. A customer may want to issue keys remotely, let tenants manage their own staff or administer access across several buildings. These are practical reasons to revisit an installation that is otherwise working well.
Installers can offer Smart MasterKey as a recurring subscription service alongside their installation and maintenance work. The scope of each project depends on the customer’s access requirements and existing equipment.
