Smart MasterKey Starts to Become iLOQ Technology Partner

Smart MasterKey has initiated a technology partnership with iLOQ to deliver a unified mobile key across residential, critical infrastructure, and public and commercial real estate portfolios. Using a single mobile master key within the Smart MasterKey app, authorised users can securely access privately owned and rental properties, student housing, energy and utility sites, telecommunications locations, logistics facilities, schools, hospitals, offices, and public buildings. The solution enables organisations to standardise mobile access across diverse property types while maintaining secure, reliable, and cost effective operations.

Sustainable Access Without Batteries

iLOQ locking technology generates the energy required for unlocking directly from the key insertion or smartphone interaction, which removes the need for batteries or external power. This design reduces electronic waste, lowers maintenance visits, and extends the operational lifetime of locking infrastructure. When combined with Smart MasterKey mobile credentials, organisations can reduce plastic key and card usage while managing access digitally through the cloud.

iLOQ S50 Mobile Key Integration

The planned integration will focus on iLOQ S50 series locking solutions, enabling the Smart MasterKey mobile application to function as the mobile key. The integration will connect Smart MasterKey’s cloud platform with the iLOQ S50 ecosystem, allowing users to unlock compatible locks directly using their smartphones while organisations manage credentials and permissions through a unified software layer.

The solution is designed to support commercial buildings, campuses, and shared environments where iLOQ S50 locks are deployed, enabling mobile access without replacing installed locks or adding additional hardware. The partnership will enable Smart MasterKey to operate as a unified access layer across customer portfolios where iLOQ and other access control solutions are used, allowing organisations to manage mobile access consistently across mixed technology environments.

“Starting the certification process with iLOQ is an important step in expanding our integration ecosystem,” said Kristjan Haav, CEO of Smart MasterKey. “Our goal is to enable mobile access on top of trusted access technologies already installed in buildings, while keeping access management simple and centralised.”

Certification and Ecosystem Expansion

The certification process includes technical validation, interoperability testing, and compliance with iLOQ’s integration requirements. After completion, Smart MasterKey will provide officially supported integrations that allow partners and customers to deploy mobile access solutions with confidence.

This step supports Smart MasterKey’s strategy to expand mobile access capabilities across leading hardware ecosystems while keeping permissions, administration, and user management in the cloud.

About Smart MasterKey

Smart MasterKey is a cloud based access control platform that turns smartphones into secure digital keys. The platform acts as a unified access layer on top of existing access control systems, allowing organisations to manage doors, users, and permissions through a single cloud interface. By integrating with installed controllers, readers, and locking technologies, Smart MasterKey enables mobile access without replacing existing infrastructure. Property owners, operators, and service providers can deploy mobile keys across offices, residential buildings, campuses, and distributed sites while maintaining centralised administration, audit trails, and real time access management.

About iLOQ

iloq is a Finnish technology company that develops self powered digital locking and access management systems. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Oulu, Finland, the company is known for its battery free locking technology used in buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide. iLOQ locks generate the energy required for unlocking from the key insertion or from the NFC field of a smartphone, which removes the need for batteries and external power. This approach reduces maintenance, eliminates battery waste, and improves long term reliability. iLOQ solutions are widely used in residential housing, commercial buildings, utility networks, telecommunications sites, and public infrastructure where secure and sustainable access management is required.
